Highlights
- Cosco Capital is buying back its own shares while the market values the entire holding group at only ₱51.9 billion.
- Only 21.25% of the 7.03 billion shares outstanding trade freely, so repurchases draw directly on a thin public float that foreign investors are also buying into.
- Vini Research Desk rates COSCO a Buy, ~78% upside to our ₱13.00 fair value.
The Setup
Cosco Capital continued repurchasing its own common shares on the open market in late October. That same week, its directors and principal officers also reported changes in their personal holdings. The stock last traded at ₱7.32 on Oct. 30, 2026, on light volume of 138,800 shares, and is down 1.1% over the past month despite net foreign buying. COSCO has rallied about 11% from its 52-week low of ₱6.61 on Apr. 29, 2026, but it remains well below its ₱8.84 high of Jul. 21, 2026, and our momentum read on COSCO is Bearish.

Our Read
The buyback is the decision-relevant signal. Management is spending group cash on its own stock while the market prices the whole company at ₱51.9 billion. That figure covers its controlling stake in Puregold, its liquor distribution arm and its commercial property portfolio. We read the market cap as pricing in rate and consumer-spending risk rather than the steady cash these businesses generate. Because the float is so small, each repurchase tranche removes a meaningful share of the tradable supply. That raises each remaining holder's claim on future earnings and dividends.
Vini Research Desk rates COSCO a Buy, seeing about 78% upside to our fair value of ₱13.00. Continued repurchases at these levels support future dividend growth and capital appreciation per share, which benefits holders of the Smart Momentum Quant Plan.
