Our Read
The buyback is the signal that matters: management is putting company cash into a pullback driven by congestion worries at Manila and Durban, which we see as operational bottlenecks being worked through rather than a break in demand. Volumes argue against the price, with global box traffic setting back-to-back monthly records in July and August, which feeds directly into terminal throughput and handling revenue. The current price assumes congestion drags on; evidence that backlogs are clearing should close the gap, with company and foreign buying already absorbing the selling in the meantime.
Vini Research Desk rates ICT a Buy, seeing about 34% upside to our fair value of ₱1126.50. Returning cash through buybacks while volumes grow also supports future dividend growth and capital appreciation, which benefits holders of the Passive Income Plan and Smart Momentum Quant Plan.
