Highlights

  • ₱16.50 per WEB share is JKS’s agreed purchase price for 81,380,792 treasury shares, above the ₱15.80 market price.
  • ₱15.80 marks WEB’s 52-week high after a 333% rally from its ₱3.65 low.

The Setup

Following the JKS investment covered in our September 9 note, the key transaction term is the price attached to PhilWeb’s own shares: JKS Tech Solutions agreed to purchase 81,380,792 WEB common shares from treasury at ₱16.50 each. This is separate from PhilWeb’s acquisition of a 30% interest in JKS Tech; the ₱16.50 price applies to WEB shares, not the private counterparty’s stock.

WEB currently trades at ₱15.80, its 52-week high on September 10, 2026. It has rallied 333% from its 52-week low of ₱3.65 on November 5, 2025, with a 17.04% gain over the past month and net foreign buying.

Our Read

The ₱16.50 agreement gives WEB a concrete transaction-based valuation reference above the traded price. JKS has committed to pay more than the market currently asks for WEB’s listed equity. That is the decision-relevant signal—not merely the valuation or size of PhilWeb’s investment in JKS Tech.

We regard that price as support for the investment case, not a guaranteed trading floor or a fair-value estimate. It is the agreed consideration for a specific treasury-share block; execution and receipt of proceeds remain the practical tests. Selling treasury shares brings capital into WEB, while returning those shares to circulation expands the shareholder base over which future earnings are spread.

At a 52-week high after a 333% rally, WEB already carries substantial expectations. The strategic purchase price strengthens the valuation reference, but sustaining further gains requires the capital raised and the 30% JKS interest to deliver earnings that justify the larger share base. Our takeaway: the ₱16.50 commitment is tangible support, while per-share returns remain the next test.

The treasury-share funding supports WEB’s capacity for future capital appreciation if deployed profitably, benefiting holders of the Smart Momentum Quant Plan.

What We're Watching

  • Completion of JKS’s treasury-share purchase and receipt of proceeds.
  • Deployment of the capital raised against WEB’s stated capital-discipline priorities.
  • Earnings and cash reaching WEB from its 30% JKS interest.
