Solviva's Rooftop Push Adds Retail Optionality, Not a Re-Rating

Highlights

  • Solviva's residential solar inquiries rose 272% year on year from March to August, and the startup now targets Cebu and Davao first.
  • Its zero-down, rent-to-own packages spread fixed installments over up to five years, so each rooftop becomes a multi-year receivable.
  • Vini Research Desk rates AP a Hold, ~12% upside to our ₱51.10 fair value.

The Setup

Following last week's note, the new development sits at AP's retail edge. Solviva Energy, the rooftop solar startup AP backs, is ending a two-year testing phase and expanding beyond Metro Manila. Demand is doing the pulling: inquiries rose 272% against a year earlier, while Visayas and Mindanao spot prices hit records in August as several large coal plants shut down at the same time. Our momentum read on AP is Bullish.

Our Read

The point that matters is where Solviva is going. The southern grids felt August's price spike hardest, and Davao is already AP distribution territory, so the startup is selling bill relief inside AP's own footprint. That keeps the rooftop customer in the group instead of losing it to a third-party installer. The installment model, however, books revenue slowly and ties up capital at installation. Even a sharp rise in installs is small next to a ₱325.7 billion market cap built on utility-scale generation.

Vini Research Desk rates AP a Hold, seeing about 12% upside to our fair value of ₱51.10. A growing distributed-solar arm also supports future dividend growth and capital appreciation, which benefits holders of the Passive Income Plan.
