Highlights

  • ₱0.24 per cubic meter in additional Q4 charges will help Maynilad recover foreign-exchange-related costs.
  • ₱18.16 places MYNLD about 29% above its 52-week low of ₱14.10.
  • Vini Research Desk rates MYNLD a Buy, seeing about 29% upside to our ₱23.50 fair value.

The Setup

The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System has approved Maynilad’s foreign currency differential adjustment (FCDA) for October–December. The West Zone water provider can collect an additional ₱0.24 per cubic meter during the quarter.

The adjustment translates into bill increases of ₱0.67 for customers consuming 10 cubic meters or less, ₱2.54 at 20 cubic meters and ₱5.19 at 30 cubic meters. Maynilad serves 17 cities and municipalities across Metro Manila and Cavite.

FCDA is reviewed quarterly and allows water concessionaires to recover losses or return gains arising from peso movements against foreign currencies. Maynilad uses foreign-currency loans to finance expansion and improvements in its water and sewerage services.

MYNLD trades at ₱18.16, having rallied 28.8% from its 52-week low of ₱14.10 on Nov. 12, 2025. Its 52-week high was ₱24.45 on May 13, 2026. Shares are up just 0.11% over the past month, alongside net foreign selling.

Our Read

The Q4 increase matters primarily as cost recovery, not as a fresh margin windfall. Maynilad’s foreign-currency borrowing creates peso-sensitive obligations; the approved adjustment provides a route to recover those currency-related costs through customer tariffs. That supports cash-flow resilience, but the ₱0.24 charge should not be treated as an equivalent increase in profit.

The investment case is therefore stronger on protection of cash flows than on an earnings re-rating from this headline alone. After the 28.8% recovery from its low, MYNLD still trades below our house fair value. We see remaining capital-appreciation potential, with the tariff mechanism supporting the business rather than changing its underlying growth trajectory.

Vini Research Desk rates MYNLD a Buy, seeing about 29% upside to our fair value of ₱23.50.

The approved cost recovery supports Maynilad’s capacity for future dividend growth, benefiting holders of the Passive Income Plan.

What We're Watching

  • Q4 collections and how effectively the tariff adjustment offsets foreign-exchange-related costs.
  • Subsequent quarterly FCDA resets, including potential reversals if currency movements generate gains.
  • El Niño preparations and any resulting pressure on Maynilad’s operating costs or water supply.
